I assure you that unless you change and become like little children, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. ~ Matthew 18:3
A child is of a simple mind.
He is easily pleased and does not long for too much.
He takes the world for what it is.
No if’s and but’s.
He has no worries.
His heart is pure.
He lives in the moment, and nothing more.
Whoever becomes lowly like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven, and whoever receives such a child in My name receives Me. ~ Matthew 18:4-5
It makes me wonder what it is to be like a child again.
As we grow older we learn about so many things and in turn, also worry about so many things.
It is as if worrying is part of growing.
We lose our sense of dependence as we grow to become more independent.
We take our lives and our fate into our own hands.
We desire to be in control of everything.
I have quieted and stilled my soul
like a weaned child on its mother’s lap;
like a contented child is my soul.
~ Psalm 131:2
We can be like children again.
We are children who are in need of a Father.
We have a Father who longs to care for us.
But it is only through humility and the acceptance of our need for Him that we become His children.
Let us not linger far away from Him.
Hope in the Lord, O Israel,
now and forever.
~ Psalm 131:3
